What I'm doing on the holidays

For the half-term my dance school did a show!Friday,Saturday and Sunday. I was tired scince we came back at 11:30pm every night! I had a speaking part plus all my dances(tap,ballet and modern.) so I had to run in and out of the changing room still putting on my dance shoes(hehe)we were dancing at Ribston High School and the show was called The Ghost At Saintsaviors the title says it all! I had a fright in half time when me and my friends were mucking around on stage(lights were of)when I shine my torch on the curtain and see  a face hiding and I threw the torch and ran!My friends then saw it and came after me screaming our heads of! Still don't know who or what that was!All this week my parents are at work and Lorna has gone on a school trip to New York she'll be back this Wednesday so mum will have that day off! The rest of the week I'll be at my grans! There you go Mrs Smith I have done my blog diary.

Building and flying a model aircraft

At our school there is a wide range of clubs that run before school, at lunch times, and after school. These clubs include: handicraft, animation, bug, gardening, showstoppers, netball and football.

In one of these clubs we build and fly a model aircraft.

We start with instructions, plans, strips of balsa wood, a plastic propeller and a length of rubber.

We then follow the instructions to gradually build the model aircraft using a craft knife and glue. This takes several lunch times.

Once the aircraft are ready we take them to the school hall, wind up the propeller (50 turns to start with) and launch them. Sometimes they fly well straight away, but usually we need to trim them by adjusting the rudder and/or elevator and/or adding weight to the nose or tail. Once trimmed, we wind the propeller 75 turns, and the aircraft fly the full length of the hall. There are usually a few crashes as well!

REMEMBER!!!

Remember me and Tyler will be selling red and white pom- poms and wrist bands on the first day back!!!

If you have a look at the map opposite you will see that we have had a visitor to our blog - from Brisbane in Australia! Wow! We have visitors from all over the world!

The history of the red nose!!!

Red nose day began in 1988, and since then there have been 17 noses! Since it started we have raised over half a billion pounds which has been spent on helping people in remote contaries e.g. Uganda and Kenya.

2007: The nose that grows, quick and eisey to put on your nose! 

2005: My personal favourite, it had stickers to put over the eyes and mouth to change emotions!

2003: The first with hair and a face! 

2001: The first of the faces!

1999:The same as the first and second one! 

1997:Very fury, how could you put it on your nose?!?

1995: It's not even red! 

1993: Is it a tomato?!? 

1991:The first nose with features! 

1989: It was the as the year before!

1988: The first ever red nose!

Its half term now so we can all go CRAZY!! I am not doing anything really special. What is everyone doing this half term? I hope you all have a good week off school.

Composting

Did you know that we compost the fruit that is left at break time? We have people who put out compost buckets and at the end of break these are taken and emptied into the compost bins near the garden.

Have you got your red nose?

If you haven't bought a red nose yet then don't worry. These boys from Year 6 will be selling pom pom red noses straight after the holiday. They have a wide range of styles - to suit everyone. So, don't forget - buy your pom pom red nose and all the proceeds go to Comic Relief!

Message in a bottle!

This is the bottle that was washed up. What was the message? Where had it come from? Who sent it? What can we do to find them? Is the message in English? What if we can't read it? Why did they use a bottle? How long has it been since the message was written?

Well Mr Coles has certainly givn us a problem to discuss this week in our Talk Homework, hasn't he?

London 2012

As you should know, the Oylimpics is being hosted in London in 2012!!! These are the official logos for 2012!!!

The five Olympic rings represent the five continents involved in the games and were designed in 1913, adopted in 1914.

The games traditionly begin months before the opening ceromony with the torch relay.

In 2004, more than 3,600 people carried the torch all over the world. They covered 48,500 miles in 78 days. The torch was transported by air, across seas, by car, bicycle, motorcycle and wheelchair.

my story start!

The haunted house.

    Ali stood silently, looking at the door.With a slow creaking sound,it opened.Taking a deep breath, Ali walked inside. The room was dark and gloomy, it smelt damp and dusty . In the room there was old furniture covered in white sheets and cobwebs, Ali steped further in to get a closer look. 'The door 'slammed 'behind her', at this moment Ali knew there was something spooky about this place, and quickly she ran to the door and tryed to open it, it was no good the door was looked! She herd a noise on the stairs an went to investigate.

   Just as she came to the stairs there was a gloomy shadow skuttling along the walls, Ali jumped out of her skin and looked at the around. She slowly got to the stairs and the shadow appired yet again but Ali tryed to stay calm but how could she? It was the scaryest thing she'd ever experianced! Ali put on a brave face and went up the stairs, just as she went to take another step a rat scurryed along her feet, frantically she ran up the stairs screaming! A shiver ran down her spine and it began to feel colder and colder. Sudenly the door handle began to twist and two gloomy eyes appired behind the door, Ali became hipnotised and steped closer and the dooropened wider, she steped into the room and the door shut behind her ...

Ghost Hotel by Tasmin

Ali stood silently looking at the door. With a slow creaking sound, it opened. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and and stepped inside ... She found herself in a big hotel! People were chatting and sounded gloomy! It was misty and suddenly a man walked straight through her. "They are ghosts!" she whispered to herself but just then a tall, thin man with a black suit; tall hat and furry mustache interrupted her
"Yes we are Ali - and I'm your great great great great great grand-father " He gasped
"Um..." she blubbered shedding a tear.
"I own this hotel and the year is 1921" he replied ! He was a fairly old man about mid 50's who stuttered when he talked and he had a walking stick!
Ali fainted with the atmosphere and also because she was always pathetic with ghosts that haven't left the place they died.
She woke up to find that she had been put in a bed! It was rock solid with a night-stand (that had a candle on top) next to the wripped curtains. Ali curled up into the corner and stayed there the whole night . She thought of how every night her parents would read a story to her and kissed her goodnight, but today was different! She didnt know what the next day would bring her...

In this morning talk assembly,  Mr Coles got a message in a bottle. For our talk homework we have to think about what the message could be and who might of sent it.

My Story, The Safe Box!

The Safe Box.

        Silently, Andrew put his ear to the living room door. "What is it?" asked Chloe, as she was shivering with scaredness. Andrew opened the door but ... there was nobody in there. They both looked around the room and they saw their mums special  box's lid open. " Grandma gave mum that box," Chloe screeched. As they got closer to the box , the voice got louder. "Why don't we take this to Grandma's house?" whispered Andrew, as he tip - toed to the box and closed the lid.

        Grandma lived on the other side of town. One hour later, they were sitting in Grandma's living room eating chocolate biscuits and drinking a cup of squash. Grandma tried to get comfy in her very comfortable chair. She puts on her almost broken glasses and looked inside the special box. She could hear the wonderful voice of her sister.

         Grandma started happily crying. " Well, who is it? " asked Andrew and Chloe. There was a long pause, as Grandma wiped her tears away. She couldn't concentrate at all.

          " It's my sister!" Grandma whispered. Chloe and Andrew couldn't believe it. " So why  is she in there?" Andrew said , like he was worrying.

"She died two years ago and she said when she dies she'll come back to the family." Suddenly, Grandma's sisters face appeared! Grandma gently stroked her face.

            Four weeks later, Grandma past away. Chloe and Andrew weren't very sad because they knew that she was safe with her sister. That was 19 years ago and they still open the box and talk to her!

The virus is so very miniture,

You would never ever find his signature.

But many hopeful scientists think

That he lives on your bathroom sink!

His slimy tongue that sneaks and drools

Leaveshis mess on the floor of pools.

His seven tufted noses grow,long

Wavy hair that is seen to glow.

On each nose a hammer stands

Covered in orange stripy bands.

His eyesbrows of a yellowish brown

Constantly wiggle up and down.

Although these have never been seen,

The scientists know they must be green.

Let everyone  have no doubt

Ali knew where he was,he was in the ghost mine.Bravly Ali walked deeper into the mine, as he did so he saw a ghost ,werewolfs, zoblie and clyopes. he was petrfied,will I ever get out?,he thought to himself.

Peering left and right , front and back Ali took another trembling step closer , then  another and another . BANG ! The door slamed shut. The Fox Crash by Shannon !

One wet weary Wednesday on the 9th of January.I witnessed a car crash on Whitminster Road.The car crash inclued  a brown and ginger baby fox.

I was walking home from Heron School, when suddenly a black Valkswagon came swirling round from behind a bend on the Richmonds.Having no choice, but to stop I came to a hault.Although, I did not see the brown and ginger fox coming from out the bushes with a sly look on it's face.The fox crept towards the road,however I kept my distance.I thought to my self I hope that baby fox doesn't run out and get hit!

Never in my whole life would I hit a baby fox.I watched the man, with an eager eye, I caught a glimps of the driver checking his phone.This road was a 20 mile per-hour road, but the way he was driving was inapropreit.Then the car started getting faster and faster until I saw the fox scamper across the 'uh oh ' i thought.The man braked his wheels and made this horrendous noise!He missed the fox but he crashed in to a oak tree.The fox ran as if it wanted to get away from the car.

The driver did not stay calm. He bellowed like an angry giant.The driver shouted, 'Look at my bonnet, it has a big dent in it ! 'The driver got his phone out of his pocket and called the AA.In the end the AA fixed his car but never found the fox.

I do not think it was fault, but I do think that next time he should drive at the right limit, and watch out for objects on the road.Also I hope that the baby fox did not get hurt of frightened.

My Letter Home in the War by Chloe

Dear Mother,
                    I am pleased to inform you that a lovely young lady and her smart husband, picked me. I have have to share a room with their daughter, Mary, she is a lovely and we have become very good friends. I am missing you very much and I hope father is fine fighting at war, please send him my dearest love.
                    I have remembered my manners and I close my mouth when I am eating. I have lots to eat as we live next to a farm. Me and Mary go to the farm everyday for milk and eggs. We have bacon and scrambbled eggs for breakfast everyday.
                    I go to school with Mary and she helps me with my reading and writing. I really understand maths so I have moved up a group. I have a wonderful teacher and she helps me when I get confused.
                    I have grown an inch and three of my teeth have fallen out. I am thankful for your letters and the doll.

Recount about make believe car crash.

On Friday the 21st January I (James Harris) was walking home from school,later than usual as I had been attending a club. It was around 4:30pm, the roads were icy and it was beginning to get dark. As I arrived at Nut Hill I was the only witness to the accident.
