Yesterday we had a performance of an Indian dance. The Year 3 children had been learning about India this term and we had some visitors into school this week to teach them the moves involved in Indian dances. This is one of the teachers. He really had fun.
The whole school watched the Year 3 children perform their dances.

Our trip to the Recycling Centre at Hempsted!

Hannah taught us so much at the recycling Centre - and we were allowed to recycle some of the things we had taken with us. It was a very busy day - everyone must be Spring Cleaning!

Quest for the mermaid's necklace

When the golden sun shone on the icy water Sandy , the mermaid queen, awoke and tried to find her special necklace made of gold, shells and pearls."Oh no!" she exclaimed, "I can't find it.That necklace has incredible powers, what will happen if it gets in the wrong  hands!"
In her kingdom there lived Frowse, a young boy, a seventeen year old boy, a shy boy, but with special power.   "I am in great need of your help, and have chosen you".Queen Sandy gurgled to Frowse."I have chosen you because you have the power we need.Take this water sword to help protect you on your journey."
Quickly Frowse set of his sea horse.Eventually he reached the enchanted kelp forest. The forest was so dense  that Frowse could not see the dangers ahead of him.Suddenly a gap appeared and saw an entrance to a cave.Nervously he entered the to be confronted by three huge fire monsters fiercely protecting their fireball power.
The first monsters,Ezio, stepped forward and hurled a ball of fire at Frowse.Quick as a flash ,Frowse drew  his water sword anodised the fire. Then Demta, the second monsters, brandished a flaming touch. But the watersword easily sliced this in two.The finla monster,Zonteron, blew a cloud of flame at Frowse -but again, the water sword drenched the flame.Frowse dodged past the fire monsters and ran through the cave.Eventully he saw a chink of light. tentatively he made his way towards the light.looking out,he could not believe what he saw...

My group's Chapter 1!!! By Nahan!!!

As the claws dug into Dave's stomach,he did not know what to do. He tried to struggle free but not even one claw would let go! 'Help' he thought 'why me?'
"If I had strong enough powers, I could get through this alone."Cried Dave.

Flying through the air, a huge fire breathing dragon swooped down onto the stony pavement. Dave looked up and spotted the dragon in it's true form instead of just it's claws. As the dragon stomped to the ground he introduced himself as being Dennis the dragon.

Suddenly and without warning, Dennis grabbed hold of Dave's shoulders and carried him off into the sky. Swaying through the air, Dave wondered what was going to happen. Before very long they reached what looked like a small hole in the mountain; it was a legendary misty cave of Demi-gods.

Landing with a huge thud at the mouth of the cave the dragon spoke.
"The reason I have brought you here is because I need you to become a real Demi-god" Explained Dennis.
"I am a real Demi-god" Yelled Dave.
Dave thought he was a real Deni-god but his mum and dad had told him so. What they didn't tell him was that he would never develop any  of the Demi-god powers.

Reaching for the cave, Dennis and Dave entered in silence. Dave thought to himself I don't want to do this! It's too dangerous and I could get killed! At last they stepped into the cave, and foggy mist surrounded them. Dripping, water plummeted like tiny beads of perspiration on to Dave's face, which ran down and dripped on the rocky floor.

Suddenly, Dave felt a rip across his legs! As he slowly bent down to check what it was he saw a sharp, pointed rock sticking out from the side of the cave. He felt blood dribble rapidly down his leg. Dave was worried that thought he was his cut would get infected because of the damp and dirty conditions he found himself in.

However, Dave did not have any time to dwell on his injury because coming from the other side of the cave... there was chanting. The voices said:
"Dave  open this cage - let us free."
Shaking with fear, Dave tiptoed towards the voices and turned round the corner. There he spotted something that shocked him. Something that he never seen before. There, in a cage, were five revolting giants. He knew  immediately that they were Cyclops due to the fact that they each had one huge eye in the centre of their faces. Dave wondered what he should do.

Should he:

Open the cage!               Walk away!       or          Talk them out of it!

New 100 word challenge!

Mrs Skinner from the Head's office website, has chosen some of last week's entries that she particularly liked. We didn't enter last week. Never mind. Perhaps we can produce a piece of work that she likes so much, she mentions it individually!

Here is this weeks snippet:

Have a go - remember to be creative and check your work. You know how to up level and also how to use good openers and connectives. Don't forget all of those skills. Remember how big your audience is at the moment!

What did you make on Lego Day?

My group's quest story chapter 1

Percy was practising his sword skills with his younger brother Sunieth (a centaur). He lived in a forest in New Zealand, with Sunieth and his mother Sahara. Unfortunately, he had been told in his childhood years that his father was killed when Percy was born. Since he was told that his father had died, he had always been determined to find the sword that killed him.

Early one morning, an echoing bang came from the door and a letter fell through the letter box. Percy dropped his sword and ripped open the letter... It was from his mum saying that she was going away for the week. Percy, without giving it a second thought figured now was his chance to get away and find the sword.

Just as Percy was finalising his plan in his mind, and was gathering his equipment, he walked through the door only to find that Sunieth was clothed head to toe in battle armour.
"You ready Percy?" Asked Sunieth "Now is your chance to find the sword that killed our father."
"How did you know what was in the letter? Muttered Percy,
"She already told me, now let's go!
Percy stood there with his eyes wide open and speechless.

After what seemed like hours, a carriage mysteriously appeared in front of the house; Sunieth and Percy glared out of the window at the strange sight then stared at each other anxiously, not knowing what was going to happen. Sunieth attached himself to the carriage in readiness to pull the heavy weight and then Percy climbed aboard. Off they went!

Slowly, Sunieth trotted along until they finally found a mysterious cave. Sharply, he stopped the carriage and paused nervously. Percy hopped out of the carriage. They both tiptoed into the cave... Even though it was dark and gloomy, they could just make out shadows in the distance. Walking closer and closer, they came across three doors. Upon each door was scrached the words: Water, Wind and Fire.

The two brothers stopped and thought for a while. They tried to imagine what was on the other side of each door.

Which way did they go?

Water, Wind or Fire?

What did we do on Lego day?

We had such a fantastic afternoon. Mr Pilling brought loads of Lego - more Lego than any of us had ever seen. He demonstrated some of the building designs we could try, and showed is how the bulbs could be lit in each of the rooms.

Then we had trains - that we could move with electricity - well battery power. That was great fun. Here we are - all enjoying ourselves!

My 100 word challenge!!!

As Jeff plumeted towards the sea, he glanced at his final landing spot. The crystal water was so clear you could see the bottom of the ocean. Jeff started his day with a bit of sky diving, but unfortunately for him someone had cut his parachute! Jeff started to record a message on his phone: "IF YOU FIND THIS MESSAGE I WILL ALREADY BE DEAD..." he shouted through the wind. His body hit the water with an almighty, SMACK! To his amazment, he was alive! He dialed nine, nine, nine into the drenched phone then called for a speed boat, a few moments later he was on his way back to his house.

New 100 word challenge

The crystal water was so clear you could see the bottom of the Loch Ness. Light headed, Tara took a step back. Unable to comprehend the enormity of what she was about to do, she dived. As she swam she realised that the water passed as smoothly through her lungs as oxygen. She felt a sharp pain in her legs and rubbed them. Her hands met slippery fish scales. Bubbles streaming out of her mouth Tara turned and looked. What she saw both amazed and excited her. Her legs had moulded together to create a rainbow-coloured shiny tail. This tail was immensely powerful and yet beautiful. She was, in short, a mermaid.

Titanic exhibition!!!

On Sunday the 13th of March me and my family went to the O2 arena in London to go to the Titanic exhibition! At the start we got given a boarding pass with someone who was on the RMS Titanic (my dude was called Mr. Edgar Giles from Cornwall, aged 24, accompanied by his brother Fredrick, who both sadly died) and at the end we found out who died and survived. Along the way we saw the crows nest bell, a doctors bag, some money, a shoe, some playing cards and evan got to touch a fragment of the hull!!!
At the end we had a picture taken in front of a green screen, which we then chose a background that was the grand staircase with a ghost of the captin behind us!!!

Here they are!!!

A lovely day!

Today was a lovely day the sun was beating down on all the children . Here's a picture of some lovely things I saw.

Nathan's 100 word challenge!!!

There once was a man called Steve, who lived in Jubilife City. But he was banished from the city never to return again because he set light to many villagers houses! He was sent to a desert  island called Sandgem. "This is so, so boring" moaned Steve "I'm fed up with eating coconuts  and drinking it's milk!" So, he went over to the shore, the crystal clear water was so clear you could see the bottom of the ocean, then Steve had an idea! "I know, I'll row out of here!" He exclaimed. Steve had finally discovered a way to escape!

The water hores legend of the deep!

Last night I watched a dvd called The Water Horse , it was brilliant and I can't wait to watch it again.
This is when it was 2 days old
This is when it was fully grown.

Trashion Show

Today and last Friday we have been designing our own clothes for trashion show. A trashion show is were we all make clothes out trash. Its really fun.

Hello everyone just a reminder that you can bring in 25p for one guess on how many sweets are in the jar. It is going to be going on all week and to guess you just come and find jack or ben in year 6 at luchtime or breaktime. You can have as many guesses as you want and whoever gets it right wins the sweets!
The winners will be anounced on red nose day! : )

Is awesome!

If you are doing anything make a comment!

Netball!

Heron have a match against Coney Hill on Wednesday 16th March and a match against Brockworth on Thursday 17th March.
I am playing in the Wednesday match and it should be loads of fun!
Hopefully we will win - we haven't won many matches.
However it doesn't matter if we lose - it's the taking part that counts.
I shall post the score on Wednesday and please keep your fingers crossed that we will win.
The only downside about a match is the skort - they're so small!
Both matches are home (I think).

What is quad blogging?

Quad blogging is something very new. It was invented by a teacher , Mr Mitchell, who found that his class were writing lots of interesting things on their blog, but no one was reading the work or commenting on it.

He asked teachers around the country if they would like to join a new scheme called Quad blogging.

Then he put the schools into groups of 4. One of the 4 schools would then be the focus for the week. The children from the other 3 schools would look at , and comment on, the blog for that school.
The following week a different school would become the focus and so on.

Our school links are:

We commented on their blog last week - it was really exciting. They have lots of sound files to listen to and obviously spend a lot of time making their blog an interesting place to visit.

This week (14th March to 20th March) our focus is;

Avenue Junior School

Next week it will be Old Mill

and then we will be the focus just before Easter.

Do have a look at these blogs and make a comment if you can.

Newsround facts!!!

This is a post for those of you who love to know whats going on in the world!!!

In California: One Million sardines are dead. It's thought the fish died due to lack of oxygen. The carcasses will now be recycled by turning them into fertiliser!

In Somewhere: Can you do the Rubik cube? No, well guess what, a robot can! The RuBot II has cameras in its eyes so it can have a good look at the jumbled-up game before solving it.

                                                                                                                                   The RuBot II

In France: Police have found a stash of really expensive jewels hidden in a gutter in France! 19 rings and three sets of earrings were discovered - estimated to be worth... wait for it... about £12 million.

In football:  Premier League champions Chelsea beat Blackpool 3-1 away from home.
Chelsea are now nine points behind leaders Man United, but have a game in hand.

In animal stuff:  Louis the pig thinks he is a dog! He used to watch another dog try to learn an agility trial, but was rubbish. So when his trainer saw him jump jumps and the slalom, she wanted to enter him in Crufts but wasn't allowed!

Places on the map!!!

I've seen loads of dots on the map these are some of them...
The Philippines, Thailand,Vietnam, 8 places in the USA, some place off the coast of Nigeria, Russia, the Netherlands, loads of places in the UK and a vanished one that was in Saudi Arabia!!!

Its nearly Red Nose Day!

Red nose day is just next week!

Are you doing anything?

Are you taking part in anything?

Have you got the Red Noses?

Remember its on March the 18th!!!

My 100 word challenge!

Late one evening, Samuel was walking through the woods. The wind howled in the trees... branches fell and made a strange crunching sound as it hit the ground. Samuel jumped back in fear, then started to run for his home, a few minutes later he was in the living room shouting: "THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE WOODS!" His mother and father told to stop all this nonsense, but Samuel did not listen he just ran up to his room and stared out the window. After looking out of the window for two hours he soon became tired, Samuel jumped into bed and started snoring.

100 word challenge

Shining brightly on the rough cobblestones, was the moon. The wind howled in tnhe trees, the rain glistened on the leaves and they were all alone. The dark of the night in the brewing of a storm wasn't a friendly picture to the lonely. Sam and Ally stumbled around-falling every now and again-desperate to find their way. After a few minutes they gave up, 'How did this happen?' thought Ally remembering the night before.

They had been playing hide and seek with a group of their friends for a while and it was Charlie's turn to seek them. She had just left without trying.

100 word challenge!

Quietly,Sam steped out of the house to go to his friends house without his mum knowing,he ran to a tree and checked if his mum was looking(thankfully she wasn't). Just as Sam went to move on he was drawn to an old house, suddenly a shiver ran up his spine and the wind howled in the trees, at this moment Sam knew there was something spooky about the house so he moved to have a closer look. As he came to the house he looked at the number and it appeared to be 84, then he realised this house was haunted!!

My 100 word challenge by Tasmin

The wind howled in the trees, Jennifer stepped up to the old, gloomy house and shivered. Her hands were ice cold and a tear shedded in her eye as she knocked with her pale hand. There was no answer. She tried again, this time a little bit louder! Suddenly the door opened ajar with a slow creaking sound, Jennifer's heart skipped a beat, as she peeked her head through she noticed cobwebs and spiders scattered everywhere and as she went inside she heard ghostly sounds! Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. Should I turn around? She was thinking.

He saw another football player who plays for Chelsea who is going to play Manchester United in the cup final. The footballer said to the Chelsea player "Do you want to help me to go to Old Trafford?"
The Chelsea player replied "OK - I will help you."

Quad blogging.

Well, we have been through 4 weeks of quad blogging and have learned a little about schools in other parts of the UK. Did you make a comment on a blog from a different school? Did anyone add a comment to some of your work?

Do you remember that we were late joining in with the quad blogging - so it would be great to do some catching up this week.

This week we are starting at the beginning again and we are going to have another look at the blogs that some of you have already visited. Have a look at some of the new posts and some of the older posts. Make polite comments and remember how you feel when someone says kind things about your work.

This is the address to visit this week.
